Recently so many Indian cities got changed name as its ancient times. Now this is the time for changing the name of Hyderabad to the earlier sweet, hereditary name, ‘Bhagya Nagaram’ (The Lucky City) Kakatiynagaram or Bhagyanagaram both are preferable names, but a private survey result is showing that majority of the people are interested in name change and they are preferring the one and only lucky name, ‘BHAGYANAGARAM’

BHAGYANAGARAM
Approximately 1000 years back, this region was ruled by Kakatiya dynasty and so many dynasties are ruled this place. In 1591, the period of Qutb Shahi dynasty’s rule only modern city developed by Muhammead Quli Qutb Shah. It was believed that the origin behind the name, ‘Bhagyanagaram’ as per this: Muhammead Quli Qutb Shah was fallen in love with a local girl (a dancer) there called, Bhagyavathi or Bhagirathi. Later he married her and the city name called as ‘Bhagyanagaram’, this name was continued up to 17th century.

Another story behind this name it was derived from Bhaganagar which stands for ‘city of gardens’. The ancient time itself this region was famous of gardens around like, Bashir Bagh, Amin Bagh, Jam Bagh, Hardikar Bagh. Lingampally and Bir Ban Bagh etc... Some of the Telugu contemporary works showing a different story about the name. It was, Poet Sarangu Rammayya named the city as Bhagyanagaramu of Bhagirathi Pattanam (city of good fortune)
After Quli Qutb Shah, the next turn was of Aurangzeb from Mugal dynasty. He captured the region in 1687. Mugal rule appointed governors for the city and soon it gained autonomy. In 1724, Asaf Jah was granted the title Nizam-ul-Mulk (The Governor of the country) by the Mughal emperor, defeated a rival official to establish control over Hyderabd. Then Asaf Jahi dynasty ruled the region until a year after India’s independence from Britian.
One of the peculiarity of the street names in City, it is unlike the names of places in other cities, the adding of suffixes such as Gudas, Bads, Baghs, Kuntas, Metlas, Pallys & Nagars etc.

The region was the richest and the largest among the princely states of India. The land area of the state was 90,543 mi² and its population in 1901 was 50,073,759. The city is famous for its historical & cultural heritage.
In 1955, while a visit to Hyderabad, Ambedkar was so much impressed with amenities of the city that he argued to make Hyderabad as second capital of India!! He said, “Hyderabad has all the amenities which Delhi has and it is a far better city that Delhi. It has all the grandeur which Delhi has. Buildings are going cheap and they are really beautiful buildings, far superior to those in Delhi. The only thing that is wanting is a Parliament House which the Government of India can easily build”. India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru says Hyderabad as `Microcosm of Indian culture' in his first visit to the city.
